What Are We Doing For Summer In Our Homeschool? {week 22 lesson plan and recap}
Every week in 2022, I am sharing our real-life homeschool lesson plans. I also include a recap of the week prior, so that you can see what changed in real time. This week, we are officially gearing up for summer learning. This is our Week 22 Plan and Recap.
This is our first summer with a college student home for three months. It is also our first summer without a solid plan for summer learning.
I am not proud of this, nor do I recommend it. I see now how seriously flawed my lack of a plan really is. I have written about the importance of having a summer routine, structure, and stability for my family for the past 8 years.
This year, I thought because my oldest was home for the summer, he would need more of a break. I thought we would want to have one too, with him.
That lasted about a week.
Summer In Our Homeschool
In the past, we have a taken a variety of approaches to summer learning. What has worked best is a loose structure for each day, an overall learning plan, and lots of field trips and fun.
Incidentally, I wasn’t kidding when I said I have written a lot about this. I decided to go back and read my own posts to help decide what we do next around here.
Summer Learning Resources
Maybe you could use the reminder too?
Here is a quick list of all the ones I read this week as part of summer planning:
- Sometimes Summer Break Isn’t A Break At All
- When Your Child Needs To Homeschool Through The Summer
- Summer Learning Activities For Older Kids (That Are Actually Fun!)
- It’s odd, but this is how we are getting ready for summer learning
- Summer Break For The Child Who Needs Structure
Our Plan For Summer 2022
As of right now, I still don’t have any real plan, but I am getting there. I promise to share what I come up with in next week’s recap.
In the meantime, I am lesson planning as usual, even though last week was a bit all over the place.
