Hands-On Learning for older kids is hard to come by. But why? Many middle and high schoolers still learn best with multi-sensory activities.
I first noticed it when my oldest son entered the middle school years.
All of sudden, activities designed for multi-sensory learning were increasingly hard to find. The resources on blogs and Pinterest continued to point me to hands-on learning designed for the mid-elementary years. As they got older, the options became less and less and I became busier and busier trying to create my own.
I know my boys require an element of multi-sensory learning in order to best work with their learning differences and needs. It is simply not an option to just move into more formal, textbook style learning. The only thing we have proven really works for us is a strength based approach with tons of hands-on, experiential learning.
Unfortunately, this has become harder and harder to find.
Please know, although I was compensated for my time in writing this post, I only share resources that genuinely work for my family in the hopes they might work for yours as well.
Knowing that we needed to find ways to continue to incorporate hands-on learning into our homeschool, I have been on the hunt for as many ideas and resources as possible that are age appropriate and actually engaging for my older kids.
Truth be told, most of what we do requires a lot of me. Planning, preparing and even creating hands-on learning for my boys is a significant part of my life as a homeschool mom.
Perhaps this is why I am so excited to share THiNK OUTSiDE BOXES with you today.

Why Is Hands-On Learning For Older Kids So Hard To Find?
THiNK OUTSiDE BOXES have been a lifesaver me and I think they are ahead of the curve.
Yes, hands-on learning for older kids is exceptionally hard to find, so when you an excellent option, you really appreciate its value!
So far, with THiNK OUTSiDE BOXES, we’ve learned about fire safety and developed our own fire safety plan, learned about insect stings and venom removal and started our own fire in our backyard chimney. My kids have genuinely responded to the activities themselves, as well as the included booklets, because they are so well done and again, respectful of their ages.
